TLMG1030 Telematics Engineering Required

Internetworking Taught 8 times (2021–2023)

This is an initial level course about local area networks (LAN) switching, advanced routing and wide are networks (WAN) technologies. There are also studied the concepts of virtual local area network (LAN), trunk links, inter VLAN routing and spanning tree protocol (STP). In the network layer, both the distance-vector and link-state routing protocols are analyzed. Furthermore, the most up-to-date protocolos used in WAN are also presented. Finally, there is a review about the implementation of protocols in intermediate devices for service providers interconnections using the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).

Instruction Outcomes

Student Outcomes

  • 1. Ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex telematics engineering problems through the application of engineering, science, and mathematics principles.
  • 6. Ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use telematics engineering criteria to draw conclusions.
