TLMG1035 Telematics Engineering Required
Telemetry and Cyberphysical Systems Taught 4 times (2021–2022)
This theoretical-practical professional training course of advanced level presents the fundamentals of telemetry corresponding to the recording and automatic transmission of information from non-accessible or remote sites to a system located in a different location for monitoring and analysis, through the use of sensory devices and transducers. At the same time, industrial communication protocols and their application in wode-area measurement and control systems are presented. This course also covers the fundamentals of integration of computing and communication capabilities for their control and interaction through a cyber- physical system.

Instruction Outcomes
- To determine the appropriate communication technology for accessing remote sites considering the long-distance communication fundamentals.
- To select the components and protocols of a communication network for meeting the requirements of remote monitoring and control of processes at remote sites.
- To determine the network infrastructure of a cyber-physical system for the execution of industrial processes remotely.
Student Outcomes
- 1. Ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex telematics engineering problems through the application of engineering, science, and mathematics principles.
- 2. Ability to apply telematics engineering systems design to produce solutions that meet specific needs, considering public health, safety and well-being, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental and economic factors.
- 8. Design real telematics engineering solutions that propose unique value in response to specific needs considered from the point of view of those involved.
